No feature of the Obama presidency has been sadder than its constant effort to divide us, to curry favor with some Americans by castigating others.” – Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, delivering the Republican response to the 2012 State of the Union address.

That was Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, the governor continued to prove that he does not practice what he preaches.

With his blessing, the Republican-controlled Indiana House has passed “right to work for less.”

From the start, this misguided plan has been pushed through the House with no effort to engage those people who would be most affected by its impact: the people of Indiana.

It only took the House Republicans six minutes to pass the bill out of committee.

It took the Indiana House Speaker six seconds to cut off efforts to change the bill.

And now “right to work for less” has passed out of the House. It must go through the Senate, but I fear the public again will be denied the right to be heard as the powerful special interests that want this bill continue to exert their will over the Republicans.

I fear that we cannot stop this train from rolling over us.

But we do have a chance to be heard.

It comes on November 6 when you go to vote.

Remember these events.

Remember who fought for you, and who ignored you.

Sincerely,
